Songs Purr Vixen has been sitting with me showing love and devotion only there are birds outside and she has started her bird calls. Sadly for her, they are never lured in to the house, only up to the windows... If Big Feet had half her skill he would not be allowed to walkies in the garden. Current Mood: cheerful |

It's official K and I were married in SF City Hall, in the lovely lighted space in front of Mayor Newsom's office by Theresa Sparks, who is the SF Police Commissioner and CEO of Good Vibrations... Surrounded by some of our dearest friends as witnesses. (Thank you to Carol Queen, Robert Lawrence, Darryl, Suzanne Rachel Forbes, John Robert, Wade, Thomas Roche, and Gayathri)
We cried.
As one of our pals said yesterday, it was such a long difficult struggle to just get to do something so simple. |

Fires in CA. Sad and angry Watching the news. My beloved State and beautiful wildernesses and lovely residential areas are burning. I'm sad.
I'm angry that national and state (National Guard) resources are going to several war fronts instead of dealing with fires, flooding, tornadoes, etc. I've been angry about this and getting increasing so. |

What a great house party! K and I threw an intimate little house party yesterday... In honor of - A year anniversary of our wedding ceremony - Pre-legal marriage (Monday the 7th at SF City Hall!) - King David's turning 1 year old - love our friends - see the fire works - Wii!
We were up early cleaning. K started cooking early. Folks started arriving around 3pm and left around 11pm. K grilled for 4 hours non stop. We think about over 60 tpeople flowed through the house... Part of the house was the board and card game area and then the nosh and beverage area, the Wii freak area, the upper viewing deck, the BBQ deck... and then people wondered into the park-garden among the flowers as hummingbirds buzzed by. Others enjoyed themselves at the fire pit. People brought yummy stuff for the grill. Not surprising for the Bay Area many brought some serious gourmet meats and cheeses.
At one point we brought out the top layer of the wedding cake that we'd frozen for today and enjoyed it... Brought King David out from the cat sanctuary room and sand happy birthday to him. (Ok that sort of freaked him out.)
Watched our pal who's a choir master in real like play Raymon Rabbid's choir boy slapping game! Funny! Ok, I didn't have anything to do with instigating her to do that - really - not me. ;)
It's so amazingly lovely what K's done with the house and garden to make it so suitable entertainment. Lord knows if it was left to me the place would look like some grad-student squatter house. I love K!
From our home we have possibly the best fire work view in SF. While the rest of SF enjoyed colorfully glowing fog, our area is full of hours and hours of spectacular illegal firework shows that put the 3Com Park fire work to shame. Semi-jokingly we call it the local drug dealer's customer appreciation fireworks show. We can also see the 3Com Park fire works, the Candlestick fire works, the Alameda fireworks. We dressed in our traditional SF summer evening attire - hoodies, down vests, gloves, sweaters, long warm pants, boots, etc - under the heat lamps and enjoyed the view. As this was a warmer summer than usual at least we didn't have to fire up the fire place. For those of you who've never been to SF in the summer - No, I'm not joking.
I was so busy and having fun with entertaining that I forgot to take photos. If you came to the party and took photos, please e mail them to me! |

eNewsletter: June/July classes (Berkeley, SF, Denver, London, etc) Here's a copy of my eNewsletter for this month. If you want to subscribe direclty, go to http://www.planetmidori.com/html/news.htmlMIDORI'S NEWSLETTER July 2, 2008 1. Living in Interesting Times 2. July classes/events (Berkeley, SF, Denver, London) 3. August preview (Montreal) 4. Succumbed. My on-line haunts = = = 1. LIVING IN INTERESTING TIMES “May you live in interesting times.” So goes a proverb, or a curse, of unknown origin. Indeed we do live in interesting times as economic woes, environmental crisis, wars, political instability, eroding civil rights and disasters, both natural and human-made, fill the headlines and impact private lives in ways we’d not imagined just a few years ago. Times of turmoil and difficult lives test the human spirit. Some crumble under the weight of stress and circumstances, resorting to hopelessness, thoughtlessness and event cruelty. Yet others rise against the tide of grim news to bring hope, justice and joy – whether in big action or tiny gestures. This past month San Franciscans witnessed (and still witnessing) the elation and euphoria of marriage equality, showing that there is at least still some forward progress in the area of civil rights. That was a big positive step among the gloom and doom. At an impromptu rally at the San Francisco City Hall a man handed out roses to strangers, even as bigots spewed words of hate at any passer by. In truth, the Rose Man was handing out fragrant symbols of hope. It’s amazing what a single blossom can do to light up the world with smiles. Lately I’ve noticed small acts of heroism and kindness making a difference in the world around us. Friends are calling friends to check on the wellbeing of their hearts. Strangers helping in evacuations and disaster relief. Volunteerism, such as AIDS LifeCycle, and volun-tourism, both domestic and international, getting increasing attention. Previously politically disinterested or disenfranchised individuals’ taking up causes and issues with passion and fervor. So as a sex educator, I turn my thoughts to how the dialogue and art of eroticism and intimacy may help bring more hope, kindness and joy to this over stressed world. Another adage, not so old, of “make love, not war” could use a dusting-off. Or how about “passionate lovers leave no carbon footprints”? Wishing you peace, pleasure and joy! Reader Survey: Effects of economy and environment on your sex lives? As I scan the headlines of my favorite news sources a thought crossed my mind... As the old "curse" goes, we now live in interesting times... The US economy is in a terrible recession. News of financial crisis abound. Daily entertainment and news-lite shows are featuring "budget living" segments. Wild fires scorch the Western states. Flood waters ravage the Middle states. Price of fuel is a daily lament. Wars. Earthquakes. Job losses. Even the Olympic Games is shadowed by scandal and politics. Global warming in crisis state and its effects have had disasterous consequences. Traveling is hell. Atrocities. Disasters... etc.... In some way or another the headlines are affecting individual lives.
Has the economic situation and environmental crisis affected your sex life? Has this affected the way you look at sex? Do you spend more or less on erotic pleasures because of the economy and travel challenges? Maybe you're choosing to spend your money on affordable sex toys instead of a big sexy vacation? Maybe you're not spending money on porn when you used to. Do you seek relief from the stresses in sex or does it deflate your desires? If you work in the erotic entertainment or sex related retail world, have you seen a shift in consumer behavior? Anything else? |

Help with a nifty class title! I need to come up with a nifty presentation title so I thought I'd pick your brain. So I'm coming up with a presentation for a big sexpo event in Canada. It's a half-hour format of Q&A. The coordinator will solicit anonymous sex questions through out the expo and I'll answer them live on stage with demos and fun/ny skits. I need a good plucky, saucy title that conveys that it's comic and informative and and worth dropping into. (oh and we'll do a bunch of give-aways during it too.)
Currently I have "Ask Anything! Sexpert Q&A"
FYI it's targeted for general sex questions, not just kink stuff.

back in SF. will this cold never leave? travel gods. Back in SF safely. I still have the tail of that noxious cold. Or maybe it's another cold on top of the one I was just getting better from. I slept 12 hours last night. I guess I needed it.
The travel gods were kind to me - even with the summer travel lunacy. It really does get worse in the summer. Part of it is the effects of the fuel cost this year. But part of it also is the increase in vacation travelers and those inexperienced with the traveling life.
United notified me by phone on Wednesday that the first leg of my flight on Thursday 8am, YYZ-ORD, cancelled. The thing about being a 1K level traveler (I wish I could be Global Services) is that I get some extra traveler assistance services. That's nice. That's one reason I stick with one airline even though other airlines, like Virgin and Emerates, give better service and flight comfort, but I'd be flying without the added frequent flyer service. Anyhow they immediately booked me on a 10 am flight that connected to the original ORD - SFO with a first class upgrade.
(Flying into Toronto, I took a voluntary bump, got to spend 7 more hours at home, fly a quiet, child-free red-eye to Toronto via Chicago but with a first class upgrade all the way through + a free roundtrip in the US. So that wasn't a bad deal either.)
When I landed back in SF, one of my bags was missing. I reported it... and also reported it to 1K baggage handling service. They work specifically for retrieving 1K and Global Services bags. The bag was recorded as coming into SFO so I was stressing that it went away with another customer. I got a call an hour later that they found it. They think it was misdirected within SFO. Relief. My next trip isn't until later in July for London, so it'll be nice to be land-bound for a while. |
